I was moments away from confirming an over-priced UberEats order when it hit me.
It wasn’t that I didn’t “want to” cook… It was that I didn’t “wanna” cook.

There’s a subtle difference.

It had nothing to do with managing my time, stress, energy, or just standing up for my convictions.

I was just whining and wanted an easy-out.

That’s when I came up with the game, cancelled the order, and cooked dinner.

Since then, by playing the game, I’ve…

✔ …stopped myself from skipping a workout.
✔ …did some lame-ass administrative work I’ve been putting off.
✔ …finally replaced the dryer vent hose.

I lost nothing, but gained so much for it!

You see…

“I don’t wanna cook tonight.” or
“I don’t wanna workout right now.”

…is the exact same as…

“I don’t wanna go to school.” or
“I don’t wanna do my homework.”

We show our kids tough love in these situations to improve their self-regulation and resilience.

Let’s not forget that we need that tough love too sometimes.

Was there something that you didn’t “wanna” do today, but did anyway?

Life is an all-you-can eat buffet that gives us plenty of opportunities to put stressors and responsibilities on our plates.

Some people have big plates that can hold a lot. Others have small plates that can’t.

Regardless of the size of your plate, it can still become overfilled, and things can fall off.

Responsibilities are overlooked or don’t get the attention they deserve.

Stress becomes overwhelming and we begin to burn out.

It’s important to recognize that we have the power to decide what goes on our plates in the first place.

If things are falling off of your plate, maybe it’s time to take a look at what deserves to be on it in the fist place.

Transforming your well-being doesn’t mean that you have to add more to your plate.

You might be surprised to find yourself actually taking things away.

I’m happy to help with that.

Know anyone that feels overwhelmed about the thought of making changes? Pass this on to let them know they’re not alone.

She’s not impressed, Bro.

She knows better.

A lot of health and fitness information gets shared and passed around like a game of broken telephone. 99% of the time, intentions are good – and I love that!

It’s important to remember that they might not have all of the details, or the understanding of how it applies to you.

This applies to all subject matter, actually. Take it with a grain of salt, and keep your mind open.

One of the first things clients and I do early-on is clarify or debunk some of the hearsay and misinformation they’ve been told – especially in how it applies to them. More often than not, we’re able to eliminate things that don’t apply to them, and simplify the lifestyle.

Have you ever had someone give you fitness advice that you just *knew* was wrong?

How’d you handle it?

Get the hard stuff out of the way while you have a full tank.

As the day winds down, so does our ability to recruit the willpower and energy to take on things that truly challenge us.

High intensity type cardio sessions demand high exertion within a short time-frame. Slow and steady cardio is requires less exertion in the moment, but the time-frame is 2-3 times longer.

Both methods have their benefits

What’s your go-to and why?

This needs to stop.

If you can’t put your arms straight up overhead, how are you supposed to lie face down and bring broomstick behind your neck without it touching the back of your head? 🤯

They’re either humble-bragging their own great mobility, don’t know what they’re doing, or they’ve lost sight of their purpose and stopped caring about matching the exercise to the individual.

Please take EVERY exercise you see on social media with a grain of salt.

Intermittent fasting(IF) doesn’t involve “skipping” anything.

IF is purposeful and consistent.

Might the IF protocol you choose involve not eating when you first wake up? Maybe. But it’s important to understand that you aren’t skipping anything, and that you’re still getting the nutrition your body needs to function well.

Suppressing negative thoughts and emotions is exhausting af.

Eventually the pressure will be so great that even the slightest inconvenience will unleash the beast.

The more opportunities you give yourself to relieve some of that pressure, the less likely it’ll blow up in your face.

Safe spaces and faces are all around you – even though you may not see them for what they are.

Journaling, friends, family, teammates, co-workers, social groups, *ahem* coaches, and mental health professionals, are all possible outlets.

And they can also offer different perspectives.

You may be surprised to find out that you’re not the only one trying to stop their problems from Hulk Smash-ing everything around them.

*Hugs and fist bumps to my safe spaces and faces*
