I hate these predatory products so so much. 🤬
Them, and checkout lane magazines.
Change -all change- takes time, commitment, and discipline.
Don’t let anyone sell you otherwise.

That moment when “this is something I have to do” turns into “this is something I do”.

💯
During a session the other day, one of my clients began opening up about some things they realized about themselves.
They caught themselves in mid-sentence and said, “I don’t know why I’m telling you this…” but continued talking anyway.
…and I continued to listen to them.
Regardless of the topic of conversation these are my favourite moments with clients.
You see, the truth is that you don’t partner up with a coach or trainer to lose 10lbs, get ripped for summer, or fit in a wedding dress.
You do it to become more confident, feel empowered, eliminate self-doubt, or simply feel better.
If part of that process requires me to be a sounding board, shoulder to lean on, or just a quiet listener, then that’s what I’ll be.

The RDPT Semi-Private Coaching program is special because it combines the benefits of 1-on-1 Training and Group Training, and it throws away the things that makes them both suck.
Finally! You can stop spending an arm and a leg to get help that is specific to your unique lifestyle, goals, and needs.
Finally! You can stop turning your life upside down to follow a program that was made for someone 20 years younger. Or someone that doesn’t have kids. Or someone that doesn’t have nagging injuries.
Get the help YOU need at a cost that you can ALSO afford.

I can tell you what to eat, and when to eat it.
I can tell you which exercises to do, and which one’s to avoid.
I can tell you which fitness fads are legit, and which one’s are empty promises.
That’s exactly what my role is as your trainer.
But what happens when we stop working together?
But what happens when there’s a new “Best exercise for…”?
What happens when scientists discover a new magic pill?
What happens when you’ve lost the fire you once had?
What happens if you haven’t learned how to take your well-being into your own hands?
How are you better off?
Honestly, the thought keeps me up at night. If you don’t leave more empowered and self-sufficient than when when you walked in, I’ve failed.
This is why I needed to become more than a trainer. I became a coach.
As your coach, my role is to:
…show you different perspectives.
…allow you to make mistakes, safely.
…encourage you to think critically.
…teach you the mechanisms of the body. (The hows…)
…share insight to potential outcomes. (…and the whys.)
And most importantly,
…support you to confidently make your own decisions for your own well-being.
Everything else I do is gravy. (And not the canned shit, either.)
If you’re interested to find out if Private or Semi-Private Coaching is right for you, I’m happy to chat. No pressure.

Fresh veggies are the best! Unless…
…you don’t have the time or patience to prep them today.
…they’ve gone bad because they were hiding in the back of the fridge.
…you can’t buy groceries frequently.
…you have no idea how to cook them.
When that happens, fresh veggies for dinner can become *no* veggies for dinner.
Frozen veggies to the rescue! No prep. No rotting. Buy in bulk. Low barrier to improving nutrient intake. Toss them in a microwave, or heat them up on the stove.
Afterall, if you’re trying to improve your nutrition, frozen veggies are better than no veggies.
It’s impossible to fall backward if you’re always choosing “better”.

I have a client that was once told not to sit down between sets because their heart rate will drop back down. 🤦♂️
FFS. If you want sit down, then sit down.

We’re creatures of habit and we’re hardwired to be as efficient as possible. That’s not always a good thing.
In my latest blog post, I talk about how we curate parts of our environment to make our lives easier, at the expense of making change harder. 😒
If you’re struggling with staying consistent, or find yourself quitting on your goals often, it could be because you’ve put obstacles in your own way!
Find out how your behaviour and your environment affect each other, and learn how to use that relationship to your advantage. You’ll stay consistent longer, and with less stress.

Raise your hand if you’ve been fired up to make a change, only or that fire to burn out just a few days or weeks later.
🙋♂️ Same.
We can thank the “happy-hormone” dopamine for both of those events.
Dopamine drives motivation. It spurs us into action to seek out the reward that satisfies a hunger.
When we get that reward, we feel great. We’re on top of the world.
But while we’re basking in our glory, behind the curtains, another pit of hunger opens up – and it’s the same size as the first one.
“That felt great. I want it again.”
Here’s the shitty part…
That same reward, resulting from that same effort, doesn’t satisfy the hunger as much as it did the previous time.
Motivation is fleeting. It’s why we seek out shortcuts, hacks, and snake oils. Or quit, all together.
The effort literally doesn’t pay off anymore.
How can you prevent that from happening…?
Well, routines, behaviours, and habits – once in place – don’t need motivation. At least, not to a level that’s conscious.
So rather than focusing on an outcome-based goal, try focusing on establishing new routines and behaviours.
And until those routines and behaviours become subconscious, temper the satisfaction that comes with the win.
Celebrate your wins, yes. But not too much.
Give something back or share the credit with those that deserve it.
Or as the legendary NFL coach Vince Lombardi once said, “…the next time you make it to the end zone, act like you’ve been there before.”
